Philosophy:
A school library is a learning hub that centers the school’s social and intellectual development as it fosters a community of collaboration, learning and a love of literacy. In order to best optimize curriculum design, instruction and support staff and students’ knowledge and learning, the library will promote a professional learning community. The learning climate will be conducive to multiple learning styles and physical needs as it provides equal access to all stakeholders.
Mission Statement:
The mission of the library is to provide a stimulating, safe environment for all students to learn. The library will open the world of information and the riches of literacy to enhance the learning ability of the school community. Students will be transliterate as they learn to create, connect, and collaborate with their peers.
Vision Statement:
The library will promote active learning and independence in order to produce high academic achievement. The library will guide students to be responsible and ethical citizens as they learn research, access and evaluate information and manage their own digital footprints as lifelong learners. Using advocacy and collaboration, the library will integrate information literacy as students engage in inquiry-based learning. Students will become effective communicators as they partake in participatory learning through shared knowledge, ownership and conversations.
